The Databases - OVERVIEW

The Winlog32 powerhouse

Winlog32 comes with a vast amount of reference data stored in several different databases.
Although the Log itself is a database, this is covered elsewhere. This section deals with the data reference sources and end-user data storage.
Most of the databases use the MS Access database jet system from Access 97 for reliability and functionality.
Much of this reference is updated with each new release of Winlog32.
Databases are updated with new information during the normal operation by the end user of Winlog32, such as the Log itself, DXCC and other databases.

When using Winlog32 the end user data is empty, and databases will be populated with data during the logging operation, or using tools provided.
Most databases are viewable and the data present is editable independent of the Log data.

Database types:

Operational data:

Prefix database, (determines country entity from callsigns)
Station location.
End-user settings, (winlog.ini).

Fixed data:

Rig database, software memories and settings.
Beacon.
Contest database, Cabrillo contest formats.
DXCluster internet provider list.

End user and automated input:

Log databases
Ancillary databases QSL Manager database.
QSL Card database.
Solar Database (Solar flux and A-index collected from the DXCluster).
DXCluster database. (stores DXcluster spots).

External sources (some are not provided by Winlog32):

Callbooks.
LoTW user list.
The 'User' award interests database.
Fists list and advanced callsign lookup.

Each database will have its own relative help section describing its function and use.
